Happy Birthday Julia!

 Happy Birthday Julia!
Today we celebrate the life of Julia Vrooman.
Julia was born on October 4th, 1876 in the Vrooman Mansion.  She lived to be 104 and passed away while residing in the home. Julia was an unusual woman of considerable intellectual stature. She wrote newspaper articles, essays on travels to Europe, and a novel, High Road to Honor. A deeply religious woman, Julia showed a genuine concern for the suffering of others less fortunate.
She organized and played in a jazz band throughout the zone of
American occupation and held "cocoa parties" for homesick soldiers from Illinois. She was dedicated to her husband Carl for nearly 70 years.

Her vitality and determination continued until her death at the age of 104,
she passed away while residing in the home.
Even after her death Julia continued to give to the
less fortunate,  ninety-five percent of their $5,000,000
estate went to churches and the needy.
